What’s the difference between a cash register and a POS system?
A cash register is a basic device used to store cash and process simple transactions, often just providing receipts. A point of sale (POS) system is a more advanced solution made up of point of sale software and POS hardware. It not only processes transactions, but also manages inventory, tracks sales data, handles various payment methods, and performs back office functions. The best POS systems also take online orders and have built-in PCI-enabled payment processing.

- For a $250 statement credit, merchant must commit to a 1-year contract term and process between $250,000-$500,000 annually;
- For a $500 statement credit, merchant must commit to a 3-year contract term and process between $500,001-$1,000,000 annually;
- For a $750 statement credit, merchant must commit to a 3-year contract and process between $1,000,001-$1,500,000 annually;
- For $1,000 statement credit, merchant must commit to a 3-year contract and process over $1,500,001 annually.
Merchant must activate their account within 30 days of signing their contract and process for more than 3 months to receive their first statement credit (50% of the total statement credit award) and 13 months to receive their remaining statement credit award payout. If the average is higher than estimated at 3 months, the merchant will receive the higher value. Early termination fee(s) may apply. Sales quote applies for 15 days upon receipt. All accounts subject to credit approval; some restrictions and exclusions apply. Offer expires May 15, 2026.
