Visit the new developer portal for simplified APIs and an enhanced user experience
We’re thrilled to introduce our brand-new developer portal!
This relaunch is designed to address the current challenges faced by developers while significantly improving the user experience and promoting the benefits of integrating with Global Payments.
Current challenges and the need for a new portal
Our original design has served developers well, but had some limitations. The current structure dedicates too much real estate to explaining the differences between the two, rather than highlighting the benefits of partnering with Global Payments for payment processing.
Additionally, our "Get Started" page lacks the simplicity and functionality developers expect, instead resembling an index of available API options rather than providing a clear registration and onboarding process.
Key updates in the new portal
To resolve these issues, we’ve made strategic changes that will streamline the user experience. They include:
Leading with REST API
The new portal will prominently feature our REST API, the primary gateway for all integrations. This API simplifies the developer experience by handling the heavy lifting and passing data to downstream systems like the XML API, without developers needing to manage the complexity themselves.
An improved homepage experience
With this relaunch, we’ve freed up space to highlight the core benefits of working with Global Payments, showcasing our omni-channel capabilities for both online and in-store payments. This reorganization allows us to emphasize the capabilities, solutions and integrations we provide for every level of expertise from plug-ins to hosted solutions all the way up to highly-customized integrations.
A comprehensive "Get Started" section
Our revamped “Get Started” section now offers a detailed onboarding experience, helping developers — especially those new to payments — understand the registration process and API credentials. We’ve also streamlined our integration documentation to guide users step by step, from building their integration to going live.
Expanded integration options
In the new portal, we’ve organized our API features more intuitively. Whether you’re using plug-ins or APIs, the portal will now clearly outline each integration path and guide you through every step — from generating payment links to adding advanced features like 3D Secure, Open Banking and digital wallets.
Enhanced documentation and testing resources
Every integration guide now includes detailed step-by-step instructions, complete with sample code, test card information, Postman collections and ways to enhance your integration. This consistency helps developers find exactly what they need, whether working on online payments, in-store solutions or payment management after a sale.
Global rollout with localized flexibility
As we roll out the new portal, we’re also taking into account the unique needs of various regions. While all portals will inherit core features, we’ll provide tailored experiences for specific markets like Ireland, the UK, Poland and Greece, by enabling or disabling certain features based on local requirements. For example, pay by link functionality may not be available in some regions, but it will remain a key feature in other European regions.
What’s next?
We’re excited about these changes, and are confident they’ll make the integration process smoother and more efficient for developers. Check out our new portal and explore the new portal for a seamless development experience with Global Payments.
